We are an organization in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts, dedicated to expanding the presence of the arts in our community and in the schools. We see our role as facilitators to bridge schools and communities through projects focused on creating, displaying and celebrating the arts.
Participating in the arts empowers children as creative communicators and problem solvers, able to ‘think outside the box’. Invention, imagination, and experimentation all play a part in art, bringing together the capacity to dream something up and the skills needed to make it happen.
Having their creativity appreciated by their community contributes greatly to a child’s sense of confidence and connection to the world around them. For this reason, we work to bring the art of children to public spaces.
As a field in which there are no right or wrong answers, the arts teach open-mindedness, curiosity and respect for every individual’s point of view. At a time when schools are strapped for financial resources and art programs are endangered – in spite of the compelling research that shows that students who engage in arts practice do better in all areas of the curriculum – we are dedicated to working with the community to help to provide high quality arts opportunities for our students.
In addition, we are committed to publicly highlighting the support of local individuals, organizations and businesses for these kinds of ventures. The inspiration and vision that drives artists and art making enriches all of our lives. Imagination is the alternative energy of our future. Community Arts Partners is supported in part by grants from the Northampton Arts Council, Big Y, and other local businesses.
